As autistic women, we’re often pros at masking, adapting, and pushing through. We’ve heard the world’s messages loud and clear: "You’re overreacting," "It’s not that bad," "Just toughen up." So we do. We mask, we adjust, and we keep going—until we can’t.
But here’s the thing: burnout doesn’t have to be your forever.
Burnout for autistic women doesn’t always match the stereotypical picture of stress. It might not look like falling apart at work or openly venting frustration. Instead, it’s often internal—a quiet unraveling that’s hard for others (and sometimes ourselves) to notice.
You might feel a growing disconnection from things you used to enjoy or notice a sudden spike in sensory overwhelm—things that never bothered you before now feel unbearable. Maybe you’re emotionally all over the place one day and completely numb the next.
Sound familiar? These aren’t just quirks—they’re your mind and body waving red flags.
Burnout doesn’t just drain your energy; it makes you question yourself. Thoughts like, “Why can’t I handle this? What’s wrong with me?” become all too common. This emotional exhaustion often fuels anxiety, depression, and a nagging sense that you’ll never be "good enough."
Let me be the first to tell you: it’s not you. It’s the system you’ve been trying to navigate—and there’s a way out.
If you’ve spent years masking—hiding your authentic self to fit in or feel safe—you’re not alone. It’s a skill we’ve honed for survival. But masking is exhausting, and over time, it can take a toll on your identity and energy reserves.
When we mask, we’re not just hiding who we are; we’re ignoring our needs. That’s why one of the biggest steps toward healing is learning to take the mask off, even if it’s just in the quiet safety of your own space.
Healing from burnout isn’t about fixing yourself—you were never broken. It’s about creating a life that supports you as you are.
If this resonates with you, I’ve created something that I wish I had years ago: the 3 Day Road Map out of Burnout: Accelerator for Autistic Women.
This isn’t about quick fixes or generic advice—it’s about meeting you where you are, helping you identify the root causes of your burnout, and guiding you toward a plan that works for your life.

No one seems to ‘get it’. Friends and family think you just need to push through or "self-care" more. Internally, so many people in late identified life (me included) feel broken, ashamed or like they are failing or have never reached their full potential, when all along they've had a brain and sensory system that is different from the masses. It can take a lot of strength to keep going.
(It was years before I realized I had been on The Chronic Cycle Burnout Loop)
